The Story Behind the Product

Each talavera piece is handcrafted from start to finish and takes between 3 – 4 months to make. The black and white clay used to make each piece is found in Puebla, Mexico and goes on quite the journey when being transformed from a lump of clay to a work of art. Talavera pottery is world-renowned and is recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. It is quite remarkable that techniques in this area have been passed down from generation to generation for over 500 years.
