As you know I love discovering wonderful handmade pieces and chatting to their makers so this market season I thought I’d introduce you to the lovely traders that I meet over the next few months.
This is Ailsa from Seagems by Ailsa
What do you do?
I create unique pieces of jewellery using sea glass and silver.
What do you like most about your job?
Being creative and getting to make shiny things… I like being in my studio on my own and then on the weekends I get to be with people at the market – so I get the best of both worlds.
What is your favourite Seagems piece?
I love making rings… well I love making it all but rings in particular
What's your favourite place to visit in the North East?
I like going to the beach, probably in Tynemouth. I make sea glass jewellery so I like going out and beach coving.
What's your favourite place to eat?
The View and Rileys Fish Shack (when there’s not a long wait).
What couldn’t you live without?
Many things but mostly my family
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
It’s a toss up between Greece and Barbados, by the sea somewhere nice and warm.
What's the best advice you’ve ever received?
To have confidence in myself and do my own thing and not let people get to you.
What's your favourite book?
To kill a mockingbird Harper Lee
What's the best place you’ve ever visited?
So many nice places but I’d have to say Barbados
♥
